Alien Boy EP Review

Alien Boy Album Art

Alien Boy is an EP made by Oliver Tree named after the first song on it.

It was released on the 16th of February in 2018 through Atlantic Records.

Alien Boy

Alien Boy is Oliver Tree’s most popular song it’s unique style made it stand out bringing a bigger audience who wanted to see what else Tree made. The way that he pronounces words makes most of his songs recognisable. 8/10

All I Got

This is less aggressive than Oliver Tree’s normal songs, while still being recognisable with a familiar style. The use of backing vocals make it seem like the 2 singers are talking to one another. 7/10

Enemy

This is Oliver Tree’s normal aggressive style again although his vocals are less of a focal point compared to the beat. This makes it seem more calm as the vocals are suppressed. 6/10

All That

This song shares a music video with Alien Boy which is a good choice by Tree as it meant that people heard this when searching for alien boy. With this being my second favourite to alien boy I think that he did his as he knew that it would make people look at the rest of his songs if the first two that they heard were these two. 8/10

Welcome to LA

Welcome to LA is different to Oliver’s usual style sharing only his pronunciation the beat is completely different to his regular style, and it would most likely fall into a different genre 5/10

Upside Down

The melody of upside down sounds very busy as it uses lots of instruments and a lot of the sound it a little distorted. The vocals sound somewhat distant form the mic which disconnects them from the beat. 6/10

CONCLUSION

I enjoy a lot of Oliver Tree’s music, and would say he is a good artist overall however I think a lot of the songs in this album aren’t as good as his other songs such as hurt and movement.
